Some funders require a statement on the handling of research data and compliance with the FAIR principles already in the project proposal. This should include informations on the availability and dissemination of research results and research data in line with the principle of ‘as open as possible, as closed as necessary’. If it is known at this early stage that some research data will not be made publicly available, this should be mentioned here, together with the relevant reason.
